Cap off the weekend at Fat Eddie’s with Ōtautahi’s fabulous FUNKESTRA BIG BAND, opened by the Christchurch Boy’s High Funk Band!

Enjoy a beer, a pizza and the special one-off finale festival performance by Funkestra playing a mix of swing and funk and more…!

In keeping with the finale funk theme, the Christchurch Boys High “Altiora Funk Blasters” will open at 6pm followed by the Funkestra Big Band who will take it out to 8pm.

Ed’s Jazz Club and the Christchurch Big Band Festival join forces to bring you this very special event to really get the party started!

CYJO (Christchurch Youth Jazz Orchestra) is the exciting, annually formed secondary school jazz band made up from JazzQuest winners and auditioned players from around Christchurch directed by Lana Law.

The All Girl Big Band is a full big band made up of eighteen Christchurch women who have changed the face of the jazz scene in New Zealand. AGBB creates a powerhouse of sound that will blow you away! The band consists of an array of talented musicians whose infectious joy of music making is evident at all their live shows.

Reserved Seating will get you your own table on the main floor (best seats in the house) or you can buy a side bar jazz club seat, or grab a spot anywhere else on the night.

Fat Eddie's have a delicious menu and of course their ultra special drinks menu, so take Thursday night off and come into town to enjoy some of the best jazz Christchurch has to offer as part of the Christchurch Big Band Festival.

Enjoy a taste of three high school big bands over lunch.

Here’s a great chance to hear these three bands at A Rolling Stone before heading over to the Gala Concert at the Piano.

This is a free event as part of the Christchurch Big Band Festival but donations are welcome! Food and drink are available for purchase.

Then the Festival Jam kicks off in the same venue at 9pm! Oh what a night!
